Dale Pahlke Rodeo Arena
Mandan, North Dakota
When a new dedicated rodeo arena was going to be built in Mandan, ND the people behind the project wanted a sound system that would be as legendary as the Mandan Rodeo itself. The 4,000 seat, outdoor venue is used for a variety of events ranging from small saddle club events to the oldest running rodeo in the nation. The project became a collaborative effort with Prairie Engineering and Tricorne Audio leading the way. Achieving the goals of high-quality audio, consistent volume and affordable pricing was achieved through the deployment of an end fired cluster.
Solution: Utilizing Community R2max series speakers, Biamp ALC amplifiers and Biamp Tesira processing, an easy-to-use, high output full range system was created. Sennheiser wireless microphones and RDL Bluetooth inputs along with traditional wired inputs for microphones and external mixer boards ensured the venue could accommodate daily use events without a dedicated operator and be utilized for large productions such as the Mandan 4th of July Rodeo. The integrated 4 way limiting features of the ALC amplifiers protect the speakers unlike any other traditional limiters on the market. Furthermore, with the speakers being fully outdoor rated they can remain installed year-round without concern for rain, sleet or snow. The sense of community was evident as Biamp graciously donated the last R6 Basshorn (a previously demonstrated model) to the project ensuring that this rodeo arena would have some additional kick (pun intended).
